• PIERRE MERAT, the re-founder and president for 25 years PASTELLISTES DE FRANCE  Association, died on October 28, 2011
  
  Pierre Merat has been a key figure in the rebirth of pastel painting technique of prestige in France and around the world. PASTELLISTES DE FRANCE LES is a prestigious association of pastel, the oldest in the world, and every year organizes major exhibitions and workshops in France.

• A PASTEL FROM RAFAEL CABO, AWARD WINNING WORK  IN LYON

The pastel "Mercader de Flores", from  ASPAS'S pastellist Rafael Cabo won one of  the four awards in the  International Biennial Pastel in Lyon.

• Membership to the INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PASTEL SOCIETIES (IAPS)

  
  Since February 2010 our association is a member of IAPS, like  most of the Pastel Societies from all the world. This presence will allow ASPAS be a trend in their activities and meetings and keep us informed of all exhibitions and events that IAPS and many other associations convene

On October 15 will be officially presented the portrait of Alicante's Maior D. Luis Díaz Alperi, painted by our Society member  Germán Aracil

• The founder of the PASTEL SOCIETY OF AMERICA died

Flora Giffuni, founder of the Pastel Society of America, died recently.
This painter has been instrumental to the current PASTEL boom which is evident  in the United States, and indirectly, in the rest of the world. The PSA is the most prestigious Pastel  Society in the USA, and has served as a model and stimulus for the creation of many other Pastel Societies.

• A Pastel Master has gone away.

In early 2009 one of our ASPAS members, JOAN MARTÍ,  died. A great person, an excellent painter and a strong enthusiast of Pastel.
Many Spanish pastellists have learned or perfected their technique with his help both personally and through the publications he to which contributed. Go from here our appreciation and heartfelt tribute.
